Here I Love You: Pablo Neruda - Summary and Critical Analysis
The poem
"Here I Love You" written by Pablo Neruda (पाब्लो नेरुदा) is about the grief (शोक) caused by separation (बिछोड). The speaker in the poem is expressing his sadness because
has been separated from his beloved (प्रेमिका) forever.
The speaker is in the physical world (here) and his beloved is in another world
(there).
Originally
written in the Spanish language, the poem expresses a sense of longing (आकांक्षा). Through the poem, the speaker is expressing his intense and
everlasting (अनन्त) love toward his beloved. Although
the speaker's beloved is in another world (there), he expresses his deep love
by sending kisses to her through the sailing ship that goes towards darkness.
The speaker
remembers different moments when his girlfriend was with him. He recalls the
natural surroundings of the moonlit water, snowy evenings in the pine forest,
and the coastal areas. But, the speaker is all alone now. He compares himself
with the old anchor (सहारा) because he is forgotten too by his beloved.
He feels so because he does not get responses to the gifts he has sent.
However, the speaker still loves her deeply beside the physical separation and
distance. Although the speaker cannot speak to her or see her, he sends
messages through nature.
The speaker
feels that his days are passing monotonously (नीरस रूपमा). Sometimes
he wakes up early and finds that his soul is wet having no energy.
In the
afternoon he feels sad, hungry, and fired. He hates the evening because it is
hard for him to pass time. He likes night because he meets her in his dream.
When the speaker finds big stars looking, he feels that his beloved is looking
at him and feels that pine trees are celebrating his beloved's death.
